Cause

On Saturday, February 22, 2025, people across Canada will walk to raise funds that will directly impact hurt, hungry, and homeless individuals in over 200 locations.

In Campbell River our goal is to raise $70,000 in the month of February for the Women’s Drop-in Center. This program is essential to upwards of 50 women daily, their children and their pets that are navigating challenges such as domestic violence, poverty, homelessness, mental health and/or substance misuse challenge. Clients are provided access to passes for the bus, showers, and laundry facilities as well as nutritional items, and items that are essential in keeping them warm in winter and cool in the summer, food, drop-in crisis counselling and much more. The Drop-in Center is often a first point of contact for other supports provided by the Campbell River and North Island Transition Society. Supports such as, counselling services, residential recovery programs, residential personal change program.

When asked about what the Society as whole meant to one of our previous Women’s Center Clients she said “it saved my life. It literally saved my life”. While it provides a big impact to the women accessing services it’s also one of our most underfunded programs. You can help us to raise funds today. Receiving the appropriate services, safety and housing while having someone walk their journey beside them is the catalyst for change for our clients!
