Cause

Welcome to the Drive Away Domestic Violence Charity 50/50 Raffle in support of the Campbell River and North Island Society.

Our goal is to raise $30,000 through the 5th Annual Drive Away Domestic Violence Charity Golf Tournament, 50/50 draw and silent auction to benefit our Supportive Counseling and Outreach Program. The program offers support to women that are currently experiencing abuse, or that are fleeing an abusive relationship. We offer safety planning, resources and referrals, support in reporting domestic violence incidents, court accompaniment, MCFD accompaniment, help with housing and other applications, and support/help in any way that empowers women to live a safe, healthy, and happy life for themselves and their children, free from abuse.

In the last year we had 192 group participants for our support groups and 206 1-1 counseling appointments. We have recently added a 3rd support group for women wanting to learn about healthy relationships.

A certified Early Childhood Educator facilitates our children’s group that run simultaneously with the women’s groups. Over 100 children have attended in the past year. The setting is informal and includes many opportunities for observation of relational difficulties and development of healthy intervention. Individual parenting support or education may follow when indicated.
